A snapshot of guest ratings and stories behind the stay.
“This hotel is a place I would definitely recommend. I’ve stayed here twice with a friend. The rooms are beautifully designed, and the lake-view rooms are truly soothing. The breakfast is amazing, a wide variety of choices, and even the design makes you enjoy it more ^^ During the summer time, the pool outside is a chill place, being close to the lake and having access to swimming there. (You see in pictures) Also there’s a grape tree outside that was one of the most delicious grapes we have ever had but as we didn’t know if it’s allowed to take them, we didn’t take more that 5-6 ones. They also have a super cozy spa with a comforting vibe, which is included in the reservation. (Perfect for winter time when it’s raining ^^) You can tae massages with two staff there that both of them are super nice We tried dinner once. Although the rating wasn’t bad, it was overpriced, the portions were small, the food wasn’t good, and it was served cold. (You can see the portion in the photo below) As wonderful as the hotel itself is, the downside is the staff, who often don’t seem satisfied with their jobs. Of course, there are some good ones, but we experienced several unprofessional moments: 1. A cold welcome upon arrival during our first stay. 2. When I calmly mentioned to the breakfast staff that a cake had gone bad, the staff member looked shocked and didn’t remove it. 3. We arrived 30 minutes early for dinner and were told we couldn’t be seated yet (which is fair). We asked if we could still sit somewhere, were told to order, but no one came! while about 10 staff members were chatting together. Eventually, we ordered water, wine, and snacks, and were served clearly outdated chips 4. During checkout on our first stay, two Aperol Spritz we didn’t order were added to the bill. They were removed, but the receptionist spoke as if she wasn’t fully convinced we were telling the truth. 5. At breakfast in winter, we sat inside at a table for four because of the view. A staff member told us we couldn’t sit there and that only tables with red covers were for breakfast, even though no one had explained this to us. A more professional approach would have been to kindly guide us to the correct table. Overall, this hotel is truly a must-experience. The breakfast is unforgettable and the spa is memorable… just try not to get too involved with the staff. Hopefully, management will find a way to improve staff professionalism and attitude.”
“We had a wonderful family meal here, the food was delicious, views incredible and the service could not have been any better. Would strongly recommend it.”
“Didn't stay at the hotel, just went to the restaurant to eat. Food was great, the atmosphere was cozy and the view of the lake was amazing. The bathroom had perfumes that you could use if you wanted to smell extra nice. Only downside was one of the waiters was very insisting that we choose a specific dessert instead of the simple ice-cteam we were actually choosing. Rest of the waiters were great though and the ice-cream was tastyy.”
“I loved the 1920s Belle Epoch vibe and ambience. This is the closest hotel to the lakeside in Evian les Bains, we went for my birthday and it was stunning with look alike Titantic dining deck and a inside bar/dining room with stained glass. A private beach and deck. I loved it. However, I also need to be honest due to the age of the building (and it is truly amazing that it has survived since the 1840s) but this means that water pressure when showering is difficult, the rooms smell musty and have insects hiding in room corners (mosquitos etc), the food was overpriced and mediocre at best. I would suggest to the owner to have smaller portion sizes with options between French food and lighter food to catch diverse audiences. There is a spa as well but it only opens at 10:00/10:30 and if you are a traveller this is a bit late. I would suggest earlier opening times to catch travellers having to leave as we had to. So in short would I do this again? DEFINITELY for the experience, I would pack my bug zapper, pack antihistamine and dry shampoo, I would have breakfast and eat out for dinner if a lighter variation of food is not possible. BUT it is PRICELESS to get the chance to pretend to be in Titanic 1920`s old world luxury and charm.”
“What a jewel this hotel is, I had a great time here. Full of history (almost 100 years) and charm, magnificently located on the lake with a private pontoon and a great view. Beautiful and relaxing garden with a nice pool. The rooms are cosy and nostalgic, it seems like going back in time to those old picturesque French hotels... and this is actually one of them! The restaurant is exceptional, as is the breakfast, served in beautiful salons or on a terrace by the lake. The staff is mostly helpful and with many nice touches for the guests. A garage can be booked in advance. The only minor drawbacks I can find are the distance from Évian centre (20 min by foot), the absence of a lift to the rooms and the lack of air conditioning (or at least of a fan on the ceiling): although Évian is not normally a hot place, in summer it is becoming increasingly so and it may become necessary going forward. In general, however, I had a truly memorable experience and would definitely recommend this lovely hotel.”
